Job Purpose and Summary:

Are you passionate about making a difference in mental health services? Join us as a Lived Experience Expert Practitioner at the Community Empowerment Network (CEN) and be a vital part of our Lived Experience Assessment Panel (LEAP) program. LEAP is the cornerstone of our community engagement efforts and aims to transform mental health services with the invaluable input of service users. The successful candidate will manage, develop, and deliver all aspects of LEAP, aligning it with our overarching EMHIP (Ethnicity and Mental Health Improvement Project) program of work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Lived Experience Expert Advisor for the entire EMHIP program.
  • Design LEAP project processes, integrating them as core functions within EMHIP.
  • Represent LEAP in meetings, forums, conferences, and other engagements, emphasising the importance of lived experience in public service design and delivery.
  • Oversee all aspects of the project, including strategy implementation, work plans, and processes.
  • Collaborate with South West London and St George's Mental Health Trust and other relevant teams, services, and departments to support the project and its subsidiary developments.
  • Lead the Lived Experience Assessment Panel, nurture the Panel, update its policies, and promote its presence in mental health services, allied agencies, and the local community.
  • Support, facilitate, and monitor the progress of the Panel and report on its impact.
  • Collect, maintain, and present activity and evaluation data consistently.
  • Work autonomously with regular supervision and provide advice and guidance in service user lived experience.

Description of Duties:

  • Manage the LEAP project on a day-to-day basis, collaborating with EMHIP/WCEN staff members and liaising with SWLSTG and relevant service teams.
  • Provide regular support to Service Users associated with the project, addressing issues and referrals as needed.
  • Attend management and other relevant meetings, initiating discussions for project development and implementation.
  • Answer inquiries related to Lived Experience Mental Health, offering expert advice and guidance.
  • Develop and implement frameworks for lived experience within mental health and other statutory services to advance LEAP objectives.
  • Manage, store, and update all necessary paperwork required for reporting, supervision, and reviews.
  • Liaise with SWLSTG teams regularly to support their role within LEAP.
  • Collaborate with service managers to ensure effective, monitored, and evaluated services.
  • Develop policies and protocols for LEAP and its subsidiary projects and propose changes impacting the mental health care pathway.
  • Be part of the EMHIP Leadership Management Team, supporting and developing the overall program of work.
  • Liaise closely with local communities and community organizations to promote LEAP and subsidiary projects.

Working Relationships and Communication Requirements:

  • Establish relationships with Service Users and those with Lived Experience.
  • Collaborate effectively with community mental health teams, A&E services, primary care, the local authority, and the police.
  • Communicate with all relevant community agencies, including BME community assets.
  • Communicate confidently and sensitively about clinical matters.
  • Persuade multi-professional staff of the project's importance and motivate staff on project delivery.
  • Effectively communicate both written and verbal information.
  • Present the project to internal and external groups.
  • Liaise with service users with lived experience to involve them in presentations and conferences.

Safeguarding Responsibility:

The postholder will have contact with service users throughout the project and in reviewing care and management. Within their role, they will be aware of information of a clinical nature. It will be necessary to communicate any clinical information effectively and efficiently to the appropriate clinicians in a timely manner, both directly and indirectly.

Job Summary

CEN is seeking up to 8 proactive, organised and confident Health & Wellbeing Coach Leads to join passionate and motivated team. As a Health & Wellbeing Coach Lead, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success in delivering our Physical Health project, across various community sites in Wandsworth and Merton, and will also develop better relationships across our PCN networks. You will work closely with project managers, community members, and partner organisations to facilitate the smooth execution of initiatives that positively impact our community. This is a part-time, non-clinical role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work proactively within our Hub and Spokes model to foster better health and wellbeing for different community groups; supporting the delivery of CEN’s Health & Wellbeing events across Wandsworth and Merton throughout the year as health coaches and; conducting timely and structured follow ups with people seen.
  • Providing one-to-one and group health coaching support for people to empower them to manage their own health and improve their health outcomes.
  • Effectively manage and prioritise a caseload, in accordance with the needs, priorities and support required by individuals in the caseload.
  • Build relationships with partner and local PCN’s, local pharmacies, and other statutory stakeholders to socialise the health coaching model. You will also help to promote and raise awareness of the health coaching service particularly to groups and communities that experience barriers to access.
  • Attend and contribute to team and training meetings and events as required by the organisation.
  • Work flexibly, adapting to the needs of the role and the people you work with, while maintaining the integrity of the role.
  • Participate in regular health coaching supervision and continual learning.
  • Collect service user experience and impact of health coaching (testimonials and narratives) as part of the delivery of health coaching. Participate and collect information that measures the impact of health coaching as an intervention that supports making sustainable lifestyle changes and report on this
